Ruin reveals what resides behind the illusions of a commodified culture. The intention of this series is to question how we as consumers continue to be seduced by the dazzling surface of this artifice and actively desire the continuation of this fantasy. As a consequence we are blind to the reality of what is transpiring and what really remains.
The absurdly over-elaborate plinth represents the past idealisation of such manufactured expectations. The shabby and abnormal taxidermy animals- once innocent and adorable - take on a grotesque, yet melancholy persona as they sit in the stillness of their own deception.
